Circles of Care (Youth & Elders)

Bridging Generations Through Connection

Loneliness is one of the most silent and devastating challenges elders face—especially when cultural disconnect or geographic distance separates them from younger generations. Our Circles of Care program was created to build meaningful, lasting relationships between youth and elders, grounded in empathy, mutual respect, and shared growth.

This is more than a companionship program. It’s an intergenerational movement that restores community, combats isolation, and honors the stories of those who came before us.

What the Program Offers

  • Elder & Youth Pairing: We thoughtfully match seniors and youth based on shared language, interests, and culture

  • Relationship-Based Visits: In-person and virtual meetups that include conversation, cultural sharing, and emotional support

  • Life Story Documentation: Youth are trained to help elders preserve their life experiences through writing, audio, or video recordings

  • Social Activities: Small group meetups for games, storytelling circles, community events, and holiday support

  • Legacy Projects: Creative collaborations like memory books, digital scrapbooks, or photo journals co-created by elder and youth

Why It Matters

In many cultures, elders and youth once grew up under the same roof, sharing stories, language, and wisdom. Today, those connections are too often missing. This leads to:

  • Increased isolation, depression, and cognitive decline in seniors

  • Missed opportunities for youth to learn empathy, leadership, and cultural knowledge

Circles of Care restores what was lost. It builds connection, purpose, and belonging.
