Mental Health & Wellness Support

Empowering Seniors Through Culturally-Aware
Mental Health Support Rooted in Community, Connection, and Care

Mental health matters at every age—and it deserves the same care, understanding, and dignity as physical health. At The Voice of Our Seniors, we prioritize emotional wellbeing with programs designed specifically for Black seniors and other racialized older adults, meeting them with cultural respect, empathy, and support.

This is more than a companionship program. It’s an intergenerational movement that restores community, combats isolation, and honors the stories of those who came before us.

What the Program Offers

  • Speak openly about their emotional wellbeing

  • Connect with mental health professionals who reflect their experiences

  • Join peer-led support circles in English, French, and other languages

  • Receive one-on-one check-ins by trained outreach staff

  • Access virtual counselling sessions and mindfulness workshops

  • Learn stress management techniques through culturally relevant activities

Who This Program is For

This program is open to all seniors—but is especially designed to meet the needs of Black and racialized older adults who have historically been underserved in the mental health system.

It’s for:

    • Seniors experiencing isolation, grief, or emotional distress.

    • Elders navigating intergenerational trauma or cultural displacement.

    • Older adults in need of safe spaces to talk, share, and heal—without fear of judgment or misunderstanding.

    • Community members seeking accessible, stigma-free mental health support that reflects their lived experiences.

How to Support This Program

Seniors

Donate: Every dollar helps us provide free counselling sessions, group programs, and culturally-specific outreach.

Partner With Us: Are you a mental health professional, therapist, or organization that believes in culturally-safe care? Let’s collaborate.

Spread the Word: Share our mission and refer seniors who may benefit from this program.

Why It Matters

Mental health challenges like anxiety, isolation, and depression are often overlooked in senior communities—especially in Black and racialized populations. Historic mistrust of the medical system, language barriers, and cultural stigma can prevent many from seeking help. We’re here to change that.
